Five Aspects of Living Your Truth

This week on the podcast we are exploring what it means to define your Truth…how you feel, what you think, what you believe and choose. Here I want to talk about some of the aspects of what it means to really stand in it – and the benefits of doing so.

Humility. One of the wonderful benefits of becoming more authentic is the idea of humility, which means we can (and ought) to embrace the idea of ”Not always Knowing” all the answers and we never had to. We can then let go of the mantra we swallowed early in life that said we were less of a person if we didn’t know. We can be open and teachable, and lean on others whom we can learn and grow from. This also helps us to reach out and ask for help – feeling more grounded in our vulnerability, in fact. We feel less alone.

Leadership. We get to be leaders of our own life! No more looking outside of ourselves to define us. No more fear-based comparing ourselves (as much) to where others are. We work on bringing the buck back to us and no longer passing it around, which we will get more into next week.

Grief. No that’s not a typo. We need to allow ourselves to work through the anger of how the negative messages and beliefs may have hurt our life, and forgive ourselves for playing out the movie! Surrendering to the real, wonderful truth about you will also feel pretty amazing on the other side…I promise.

Courage. Perhaps the biggest part of all is gathering (and regathering) courage each day to face the fear of screwing it up. Of not doing it perfectly. Courage means facing some of the things we’re not proud of. And finally, the courage to let others go (where’d everyone go?) who cannot support us honoring ourselves. This may be one of the hardest things about the process.

Rewrite. It’s time. To rewrite your story with the TRUTH about you. All your wonderful gifts and passions, your kindness and compassion and your creativity. Your desire to want more for your life and for the greater good. It’s also time to get moving, because there’s no sense in wasting more time not living the life you really deserve and need to live to feel grounded.

So, what’s your story now? What was it before? And what will it be from now on? You get to choose. You get to live it how you want it. With courage, emotional honesty, and confidence. Because that is what empowerment looks like. Brave.

What Happened…and the Story You Told Yourself About It

Something happens. They don’t text back. They get quiet. They forget something you asked them to do. Their tone changes. They don’t offer to help. They cancel plans. And almost instantly, our brains fill in the rest. They don’t care. They’re mad at me. I’m not important to them. They’re being selfish. They don’t want […]

Are You Saying What You Mean—or Hoping They’ll Figure It Out? How Emotional Honesty Builds Connection

We talk a lot about communication. We say we need to communicate better. We wish other people would communicate better. We get frustrated when someone doesn’t understand us, doesn’t respond the way we hoped, or seems completely oblivious to what we’re trying to tell them. But here’s a question worth sitting with: Did you actually […]

What Doesn’t Fit Anymore? 10 Things You May Have Outgrown

Sometimes we stay with things long after they’ve stopped fitting us…not because they’re necessarily terrible, but because they’re familiar. A relationship, a role, a goal, a way of spending our time, even an identity can make perfect sense for one season of our lives and feel completely different in another. But admitting that can be […]

About

My passion has been to help others uncover who they truly are, lay claim to their gifts and passions, and ultimately, their purpose. Because, I believe, a sense of purpose is what brings life, gets us out of bed and helps us to make sense of an otherwise stressful and overwhelming world.
