Create Some Possibility in Your Life by Changing How You See It.

Create Some Possibility in Your Life by Changing How You See It.

Mary Baker blogpost black and white, Possibility, try

One of the ways we can protect ourselves from risking failure, is to use the concept of black and white thinking, so that (we think) there will be no surprises.  But at such a huge cost. We then don’t allow ourselves to look at what’s possible because are too afraid it will be “awful” if it isn’t “perfect”.

But wait.  What if we tried to open our minds just a bit to create a positive reframe, while still being realistic?

Instead of awfulizing it and shutting it down, by closing the door on doing “the perfect or horrible” like we talked about the show today, you can change your beliefs slowly but surely by stretching them out just a bit to us to a healthy “maybe.” It doesn’t mean we know the outcomes. It just says that we are open to many different possibilities, including ones we would never have imagined.

We can also tell ourselves that we can try some things, before we commit.  This way we will gather the necessary evidence and sort through it to see if our old fear-based beliefs are true, or just maybe, maybe it could be different?  We could actually go after that goal we’ve always wanted for ourselves but were too afraid to try?

What matters is convincing yourself that you can be hopeful, you can change, you can have different in your life, and you can be different…some of the doors you once always thought we’re closed to you can begin to open!

When Survival Mode Becomes a Way of Life

If you’re always waiting for the next shoe to drop, it’s time to ask—what part of me doesn’t feel safe? We’re not meant to live with our shoulders up to our ears. But for many of us, being “on edge” has become the norm. You might call it anxiety, overthinking, or burnout, but often, it’s […]

You Can’t Be Honest When You’re Bracing for Impact

We all want to be emotionally honest. To speak up when something hurts, to ask for what we need, to be seen and understood for who we really are. But here’s the truth: honesty doesn’t happen in a vacuum. You can’t be emotionally honest when you’re constantly bracing for criticism, correction, or shutdown. And you […]
