Glimpses of Growth: The Signs You’re Already Changing

Change doesn’t always start with a big decision.
Sometimes it starts with a thought. A pause. A flicker of awareness.
A moment where you do something slightly different than you would’ve a year ago.

These are what I call glimpses of growth—the quiet, subtle signs that something in you is already shifting, even if you’re not fully “there” yet. And if you’re not paying attention, you might miss them… or brush them off.

But they matter.
Because these glimpses are often the very first signs that you’re getting ready to do life differently.

So what do these glimpses actually look like?

They’re often not dramatic. No fireworks. No big declarations.
Just a moment of new noticing. Or a flash of discomfort that actually signals you’re outgrowing something.

Here are some examples:

  • You get annoyed that someone keeps talking over you—when before, you would’ve just smiled and stayed quiet.
That’s a sign you’re starting to value your voice.
  • You feel restless in a friendship where everything is always one-sided.
You’re beginning to crave mutuality—and getting ready to ask for more.
  • You walk away from a conversation and think, “Ugh, I people-pleased again.”
That awareness alone is a win. You’re starting to catch the pattern in real time.
  • You feel exhausted from constantly saying yes—and you’re no longer okay with it.
That’s the beginning of boundary work, even if you haven’t said no yet.
  • You find yourself irritated by the way someone minimizes your feelings.
You’re learning what emotional safety actually looks like—and realizing what doesn’t feel safe anymore.
  • You start getting curious about your reactions instead of just judging yourself for them.
    That’s self-awareness building. That’s healing beginning.
  • You reread an old text you would’ve sent last year and cringe a little.
    Growth. Right there.
  • You’ve been thinking about therapy, or coaching, or signing up for something to help you move forward.
Even that interest is a glimpse of your readiness.

You’re Already Doing the Work

The truth is, change doesn’t begin the moment you take action.
It begins the moment you start to see your life differently.
The moment you notice what isn’t working. The moment you feel friction where there used to be numbness or compliance.

And those moments? They’re worth celebrating.

You don’t have to wait until you’ve got it all figured out.
You don’t need a total overhaul to say you’re healing.
You just need to keep following those glimpses.

They’re showing you what you’re ready for next.

Action Builds Confidence: Why Change Doesn’t Happen Through Thinking Alone

Most people don’t struggle because they don’t know enough. They struggle because knowing and doing are two very different things. You can read the books. Listen to the podcasts. Journal. Reflect. Understand exactly why you do what you do. And still find yourself stuck. Not because you’re failing. Not because you’re lazy. But because growth […]

You Can’t Heal in Isolation (Because You Learned to Survive There)

Most people don’t decide to isolate. They don’t wake up one day and think, “I’d rather do life on my own, keep things to myself, and figure everything out alone.” It happens slowly. Quietly. And usually…early. What looks like independence on the outside is often something much deeper on the inside. Because for a lot […]

My passion has been to help others uncover who they truly are, lay claim to their gifts and passions, and ultimately, their purpose. Because, I believe, a sense of purpose is what brings life, gets us out of bed and helps us to make sense of an otherwise stressful and overwhelming world.
